HIDDEN HILLS, CA – February 13, 2025 – The Hidden Hills City Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Lauren Langer as the new City Attorney. Langer, an accomplished municipal law expert with extensive experience in land use, zoning, and environmental law, is a partner with Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK). She currently serves as City Attorney for the City of West Hollywood and legal counsel for the Westside Cities Council of Governments and previously served as Interim City Attorney for the City of Downey.
“We are excited to welcome Lauren Langer to Hidden Hills,” said Mayor Weber. “Her vast knowledge of municipal law and proven track record in supporting local governments will be invaluable as we continue to uphold our commitment to effective governance and community safety.”
Langer’s legal expertise includes advising on complex issues related to land use, zoning, environmental regulations, and housing laws, including the Density Bonus Law, Housing Accountability Act, and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). She also has a deep understanding of municipal operations, providing guidance on the Brown Act, the California Public Records Act, and other key legal frameworks. Langer has drafted legislation and municipal ordinances in areas such as tenant protection, wireless infrastructure, and affordable housing.
“I am honored to join Hidden Hills as City Attorney and look forward to supporting the City Council and staff,” said Langer. “Municipal law allows me to work on issues that directly impact communities—from public safety to housing and environmental protection—and I’m excited to bring that passion to Hidden Hills.”
Before joining BBK in 2018, Langer spent 12 years at Jenkins & Hogin, where she built a strong reputation for her work in public law. Langer regularly presents at conferences and seminars on housing, land use, and transparency laws, sharing her expertise with other legal professionals and public officials.
“Lauren brings a wealth of experience in public agency law, environmental policy, and municipal governance,” said Interim City Manager Gloria Molleda. “Her leadership will be instrumental in guiding our city through legal matters and supporting strategic initiatives that benefit our residents.”
Langer is part of Best Best & Krieger LLP (BBK), a firm with 12 offices, over 250 attorneys, and more than 130 years of service supporting public and private sector clients. BBK is known for its deep expertise in municipal law, making it a natural fit for the needs of Hidden Hills.
